Wall of Fame
The Wall of Fame Award and Recognition Ceremony began in 1991 to recognize annually outstanding alumni who have made contributions to medicine, government, education and the community. Since the inception of the wall, the college has recognized 24 alumni who serve as legacies to the far-reaching impact that a UF medical education has on the betterment of health and human lives. A UF College of Medicine alumna or alumnus is selected annually to receive the Wall of Fame honor, presented at the annual fall medical reunion. Those honored are pictured in a display in the Founders Gallery of the Academic Research Building. The 2005 honoree will be recognized at Fall Medical Reunion, November 5, 2005.
Criteria for consideration:
- Individual honored must be a graduate of the UF College of Medicine.
- Individual must have made significant contributions in one or more of the following areas: medicine, government, education and the community.
Nominations may be made by any alumnus, housestaff alumnus, faculty or student. Nominations are forwarded to a selection committee composed of UF medical alumni and faculty who review all nominations and determine the appropriate honoree.
Nominations must include:
- Statement of evidence in justification of the nomination
- Nominee's curriculum vitae
- Additional letters of support are welcomed, but not necessary.

2003 Wall of Fame/Honorary Alumnus
Honorary Alumnus
The Honorary Alumnus Award is presented by the University of Florida Alumni Association to non-alumni who have made significant contributions to the University of Florida. The College of Medicine will restrict nominees to non-alumni physicians and scientists who have made significant contributions to the UF College of Medicine in its mission of teaching, research and patient care. The Honorary Alumnus Award is presented at the fall medical alumni reunion. The 2005 honoree will be recognized at a ceremony on November 5, 2005. Medical honorary alumni are recognized on a plaque in the Founders Gallery of the Academic Research Building.
Criteria for consideration:
- Individuals honored cannot be graduates of the UF College of Medicine.
- Individuals must have served a minimum of 10 years at the College of Medicine.
- Individuals must have provided significant contributions to the mission of the college.
- The recognition can be a posthumous honor.
Nominations may be made by any alumnus, housestaff alumnus, faculty, housestaff or student. Nominations are forwarded to a selection committee composed of medical alumni and faculty, who make recommendations to the UF Alumni Association Board of Directors. This board makes the final decision on awarding this honor.
Nominations must include:
- Statement of evidence in justification of the nomination
- Nominee's curriculum vitae
- Three letters of support are required.
